Mid-December, George Felkner, leader of the TBM state feeding unit, was contacted by a representative from the U.S. Army’s 354th Medical Company in Seagoville, Texas. Many from their unit were soon to be deployed to Afghanistan. The company was to have a Christmas party for their families on December 15, and the person who was providing food backed out as the last minute. Eight yellow cap volunteers from TBM, including four Vietman Navy veterans, stepped up to the plate and cooked and served the meal for the military families. Over 200 soldiers and their families attended, and it was a great time of fellowship.
Michael K. Okikawa, commander of the company, said to George, “We enjoyed your gracious service to the US Military, great meal and your fellowship. Please tell all that volunteered how much we appreciate their support and their time to make our holiday event extra special.”
