Suggestions for raising funds
Disaster relief ministries are supported by contributions from individuals, churches and other organizations who desire to share the compassion and love of Christ with those who are hurting. As an extension of the organization or individual’s ministry through giving, people participate in reaching out to others. We need to give them the opportunity to share in the experience.
The very nature of disasters is unpredictable leaving little time to raise needed support.
If you need help, consider establishing a home support team before a disaster occurs. The most important step in any ministry is prayer. Build a prayer network to support your disaster relief ministry. Also, talk with your pastor and church leadership about your ministry to secure their prayers and financial support if possible. You will then have a base of support to draw from when an opportunity to serve arises. Be sure to plan a report back to your home team when you return. People want to hear what God did in your life and the lives of others.
