Mickey Lenamon was born into a mission oriented family where his dad, Joe, was a Baptist Men/RA Leader and his mom, Tomi, was a Baptist Women, Acteen, GA Leader. He attended his first RA Camp with his dad at Latham Springs in 1966 while he was still a Mission Friend. There he met Bob Dixon as he was touring Texas RA Camps during his first year as State RA Director. Bob has been his valued mentor through the years up to the present time.

 

Mickey has been involved individually, as well as with his family, with Texas Baptist Men since its formation in 1967. His dad was a founding member, first TBM RA Vice President and then President in 1974-77 and continues to be active to the present.

 

Mickey has been actively involved with Texas Baptist Men since 1972. He became a fulltime staff member with TBM on March 15, 2006 as the Director of Resource Development. On January 1, 2008, he assumed the duties of the Associate Executive Director for TBM while continuing in his role as Director of Resource Development.

 

Before Mickey joined TBM, he was actively involved as a volunteer in many of the TBM ministries. During his high school and college summers, he was a Royal Ambassador State Staffer and Team Leader. He also worked as a TBM Young Men’s staffer assigned to Minnesota and Wisconsin. One summer, Mickey assisted Bob and Jean Dixon in planting a church in Saint Cloud, Minnesota as the Youth Director. He has also served as a member on the TBM Finance Committee and was elected Vice President for TBM Baptist Young Men.

 

He helped TBM Volunteers build the first Hospitality House in Huntsville near the prison during a 24 hour marathon session. He has been involved with several other building projects when the Retiree Builder’s were first being formed by TBM and Olen Miles. Throughout the 1980’s, he was part of the TBM Lay Renewals; and has participated in over 25 Lay Renewal Weekends as a Youth Coordinator or Team Member.

 

He grew up in Fort Worth, Texas and attended Texas A&M University. For 13 years, he was in the Financial Planning business in both Texas and Phoenix, Arizona. He married Sallie in 1988 and they have two wonderful sons, Ryan (20) and Parker (15).

 

As hobbies, he enjoys all types of hunting; especially deer, quail and pheasant.
